Did you attend the 2008 Erie bridal shows?  I would love to hear your thoughts!  I was not able to attend because I was in Kansas City.  The same weekend, I did get to attend a KC bridal show and it was wonderful!  I will be posting a few shots from the show soon!

I hate when vendors (non-Erie based) refer me to www.theknot.com to find vendors in Erie.  The Knot’s Pennsylvania section is mostly Philadelphia based– and that’s a good eight hours away.  This is why I need your feedback on vendors… how are long distance brides supposed to plan their wedding when there are no online resources?

In need of color inspiration?  Brides.com has a color wheel swatch worth checking out.  You can pick a color family if you have an idea of your ideal color scheme or you can spin the wheel for suggestions.  Adding color to your wedding can take your wedding from drab to fab.  Color is memorable.  Have a memorable wedding!

 There are many color pallette suggestors on the web.  Try out a drag and drop version at Bliss Weddings. 

USAbrides has great suggestions for picking your colors based on four design principles.  Pick an anchor or dominant color– your concept needs something to bring it all together:

- Monochromatic: One base color used, but several different hues and tones are present (Example: Various bridesmaid’s dresses in blue)

- Adjacent: Two or three colors are choosen which lay together on the color wheel (Example: yellow, yellow-green, and green)

- Triadic: The use of three colors on the color wheel that are equal distances apart (Example: Yellow, Blue, Red)

- Complimentary: Two opposite colors on the color wheel (Example: yellow and violet)

 Are you having a holiday wedding?  This bride-to-be is having her wedding on New Year’s Eve 2008.  I really need to crack down and book the rest of my vendors.  Note to brides that are planning holiday weddings: plan early! 

One of the benefits to booking more than a year in advance is that your vendor may let you visit to see real weddings booked one year earlier.  This is the case for the Ambassador, where my wedding will be held.  The on-site wedding coordinator (Peggy) allowed my future in-laws to visit and take pictures.  I would have loved to have gone, but I won’t be in Erie for another month (at least).  This will give us the opportunity to see the venue decorated by viewing pictures they took.  This is also the venue’s first NYE wedding so they are getting practice this year for our wedding next year.

Visiting your reception or ceremony venue will help you conceptualize your dream day.  By seeing other’s wedding day decor, you can get a better idea of what you like based on how you felt about something they did or did not do.  I am looking forward to seeing the picture’s from last night!  I will pass them along when I get them
